Funerals are not the most pleasant of affairs… well, most of the time anyway. The funeral is just the beginning of the mourning period of a very important part in your life. Every once in a while you find a person who just wants his family to keep living their life and be happy. And no, I don’t mean Gerard Butler’s character in that movie. I mean something real, something profound… and hopefully something hilarious to distract from all the sadness for even just one moment. While Butler is Scottish, our guy in the video here is Irish! And this Irish gentleman definitely delivered.

The funniest funeral of all time

Funniest Irishman of all time?

Irish people are hilarious by nature. Good luck finding one without a sense of humor. But how many can keep it going from the great beyond? Well, our protagonist scores a touchdown with aplomb! He left a recording that has everybody bust our laughing at his own funeral! You’d think it’s a stand-up show and not a funeral. One second you’re morning a close friend or a relative and the next you remember why you loved the guy in the first place. Shay Bradley is the Irish man in the casket. He recorded a message a year before and left it to his son. He left specific instructions for the message to be played at his funeral and not before. Shay was a Defense Forces veteran and a famous prankster. His wife, Anne Bradley didn’t even know about the whole thing until a day before the funeral.

“Let me out!!”

Shay Bradley, the ultimate Irish prankster would not have people thinking his sense of humor had gone with him. So he recorded a message where it sounds like he is trapped in his own casket. You’re at the funeral, you hear these sounds and you are flabbergasted! You have no idea what is happening! But then the laughter starts as his people wake up to the famous humor. He doesn’t stop there, he truly expands on the hilarious opening. He even starts singing!

The myth, the legend, Shay Bradley

The original post appeared on Reddit. Andrea, his daughter is the one that posted it and the video quickly became viral. And with good reason too. Dublin lost one of the good ones. Good job, sir, we are pretty sure you will rest in peace.
