Golden Age of Cinema

Watching high-quality movies and TV has become a chore of late, hasn’t it? It wasn’t a long time ago when you would be excited for that day to come when the new episode of your favorite TV show airs. And the blockbuster or that Oscar-worthy film would be released no more than once in a blue moon. The more you go back in time, the less media there was. And it was a happy time. We could admire that one great movie that came out in 1965 (For a Few Dollars More) or that one vinyl we bought in 1971 (LED ZEPPELIN IV!!!). The Golden Age of cinema has come and gone, but we can still access it easily today.

Golden Age movie stars dance to “Uptown Funk”

You could remember a whole year by a great vinyl. In those decades it wasn’t ‘gay’ to dance and sing a love song to your crush… well, at least not in the movies. Who can forget Gene Kelly’s “You Were Meant For Me” in “Singin’ in the Rain” or James Stuart saying something or other about the moon to his beloved in that movie… oh even I’ve forgotten the details. I guess I can Google it?

Golden Age of Media

Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining, I am more than happy with modern technology. It has brought all of our favorite superheroes to life! Fighting monsters that look like they’re bursting out of the screen is commonplace nowadays. We must stop complaining about the over-saturation of media and actually cherish discovering our own favorite movie or album for the year. It is an art in and of itself. We live in an amazing time where time-travel is just a click away! One click can take you to that old western movie star who ask people if they feel lucky. Or even to those black and whites with that hilarious guy whose mustache Hitler stole. Shame on him (for more than that)! The technology has ushered in the Golden Age of ALL media!

Yes, all of that is only one click away. And if you use your clicks right, you might even create something like this video we have here. All of those Golden Age movie stars come to life again but they don’t dance to their old ditties. They are dancing to a tune representative of our own day and age. Mister so-much-talent-it’s-falling-off-his-pockets. Bruno Mars himself. The fact that he is collaborating with another extremely talented man in Mark Ronson makes things even better. “Uptown Funk” has become one of the biggest hits of our age. Yet another talented person combined his love of Golden Age cinema with today’s music to create an amazing compilation. Michael Binder.

This is quite the compilation, isn’t it? Michael Binder is a great cinema enthusiast. He collected 66 videos from the Golden Age of cinema, all of them before 1953. Then he synchronized them to match the rhythm of the 2014 hit song “Uptown Funk”. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars will freak out when they see this video. There is no speeding up or slowing down the original footage, everything just fits perfectly.
