This modern and very futuristic mega-city will be in the shape of a line (is that even a shape?) and construction already began. The Line will be built in Saudi Arabia and reportedly it will be over a hundred miles long. The futuristic technology incorporated in the smart city will make it completely emission-free and environment-friendly.
The Line will pave the way for other mega-cities of the future
It seems that every country that has some extra cash lying around is trying to wow the world with some new technology or new skyscraper. The latest trend seems to be a combination of both and it’s taking over the world. “Let’s build the next city of the future!” seems to be the latest trend. You’ve got Songbo in South Korea, Quayside in Toronto, Chengdu Future City in China and countless more. Some don’t go so far as to build a new city, but modernize existing ones, like Barcelona and Singapore. Futuristic smart cities seem to be the future according to everybody so Saudi Arabia decided to dip their toes in the trend. Not only dip, but jump head-first into the ocean of the future.
“The Line” is a completely self-sufficient, emission-free smart mega-city. It is also going to be mostly just long… with barely any width to it. Indeed The Line will be over a 100 miles long, less than 700 feet wide and around 1600 feet tall. It should be a miracle of the future taller than the Empire State Building and much… much longer. The crown prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman al Saud aka MBS announced the plans in January 2021. It will look like a mammoth glass mirrored wall with green surfaces on the top. This project comes from the company called NEOM and it will reportedly cost over 500 billion dollars.
The Line will be the first completely self-sustaining city and emission-free city in the world
With the technology and knowledge that we have today, it really is long overdue to build cities like this. If people could build the pyramids and Stonehenge almost 5000 years ago and the Great Wall 3000 years ago. We could have built some really crazy stuff by now, what is everybody waiting for? Neither Elon nor Bezos plan to be Batman anytime soon (although Elon is close to Tony Stark), so the least we can do is built some stuff we can see from the moon.
The Line will house 9 million people who will live in their own self-sustaining communities within the smart, futuristic mega-city. I guess Donald Trump has his rivals… with the big difference that this city’s construction has already started. If this is the first smart city ever it will give us a taste of the real eventual smart cities and we can learn a lot about how to build our future.
